​Our mission                                                                                                                             
Delta serves students whose needs have not been met by a traditional school model. Through strong relationships, Delta builds a safe, inclusive, and caring academic community. Small classes, varied programs, and engaging curriculum empower students and prepare them to successfully navigate life beyond high school.

Our vision 
Situated on the Cabrillo College campus, Delta is in a unique position to partner with Cabrillo and help our students seamlessly transition to college after high school. While we recognize that college may not be for everyone, and therefore do not require A-G requirements for graduation, it is our goal to keep all doors open for students, and we encourage students to take at least one Cabrillo class before graduating. To prepare students for college and career, our teachers and staff emphasize our Grad Skills: self-reflection, resilience, critical thinking, communication,  collaboration and work habits. Our hope is that a student leaving Delta to go to college or join the workforce can ask thoughtful questions, see the world from multiple perspectives, communicate effectively, advocate for themselves, and collaborate productively with others. 

Through its three programs: Direct Instruction, Guided Studies, and Independent Studies, Delta strives to make education relevant to young people who have not been engaged by traditional high school models. With an average annual enrollment of 125 students, Delta School offers a highly supportive and academically challenging environment with a 1:16 teacher/student ratio. The Delta staff work hard to create an achievement-focused school culture that fosters healthy relationships between students and adults. 

Santa Cruz City Schools is Delta’s chartering agency and we are grateful for their support. As such, it disperses state funds to Delta based on the school’s daily attendance, (ADA). It also provides administrative oversight for special state education funding identified for instructional materials, equipment, and special education services.
